Carol's classes are enjoyable and social. Students are encouraged to share their ideas and interests in art and life.
Students may paint from their own sources, photographs, sketches or still life arrangements. Cirriculum covers planning a painting, techniques of watercolor application, placement and focal point, and proper format for framing. Carol offers individual help, demonstrations of ways to solve problems, color-mixing practices and ways to achieve unique textural aspects using watercolor.
Understanding of the Elements and Principles of Design is the basis of the class - Value, color, line, shape, size, texture, and direction are the tools of painting . The aesthetic principles of unity, dominance, conflict, repetition, balance, harmony, ateration and gradation are the keys to understanding how to create a work of art.
Please note: Beginner sets and limited tools are fine for students who wish to see if they like the medium before investing in tools.
My new for 2011 Blog at claythingsplus.com will publish some of my ideas and lessons for watercolor, stoneware pottery and related topics.
